Well, the problem now is that I've left my previous company, where I wrote this tool. I'm in the middle of rewriting it from scratch on the side. Might take a while. I think I may just post the important bits (the diff/patch algorithm) when it gets done and not worry so much about getting a full polished tool posted.

It would be really great to have this tool for pre-commit reviews... I have been looking into writing my own and it would be great to leverage what you have done. Thanks for the great write up on all the things that tripped you up.

This would be a really useful tool. I can't understand why perforce or crucible haven't gotten around to providing this extension. I remember talk from Atlassian in a past crucible presentation that they were planning on adding it. That was over a year ago.

Looking forward to seeing it.

I plan to release this tool but it may be a month or three. Still haven't gotten around to updating it for Crucible 2. Anyway, watch this space, it's on my list.

Wow, this is great! I have to admit I'm drooling over getting access to the tool. We want to put more of our emphasis on pre-commit review and have Crucible/Fisheye/Perforce in house.

I thought about grabbing the browser cookie a bit more, but I'd have to support the cookie styles on the three browsers we use here.

NTLM auth is interesting. I'll look into that, thanks!

Hey Scott,

Great writeup!

> Ok, well there is another frustrating issue with the
> API. I don’t have a way to reuse the user’s Crucible
> credentials from their web browser or Windows login.

You should be able to use a user's browser cookie (if you have access to it) to talk to the REST API. Grab the "remember" cookie from the browser, and add that same cookie to every REST request you make.

It *may* also be possible to use NTLM style authentication if put IIS in front of Crucible and use the AJP connector
